DevOps Consulting Creates a Better Experience For Users

E-Commerce

THE CHALLENGE.

Recently, a well known California based retailer brand approached the SaaS developer Orange County team at Pegasus One with something of a significant challenge on their hands. In an effort to better support their ongoing e-commerce strategies, they were looking for newer and innovative ways to guarantee continuous uptimes for users – no matter what.

In an era where more and more e-commerce retailers are cropping up all the time, a business’ competitive advantage suddenly has less to do with the products they sell and is more about the experience they’re able to offer. Ideally, that experience should be something that customers won’t be able to match anywhere else.

Luckily, the team at Pegasus One had more than a few ideas that could be used to help accomplish exactly that.

A Better E-Commerce Platform Creates a Better Experience For Users

E-Commerce

THE CHALLENGE.

Recently, a large retailer came to the team at Pegasus One with something of a significant challenge on their hands.

APPROACH.

Pegasus One was certainly the right fit for this task, as implementing the DevOps Consulting we have previously hosted and managed all such environments for the client (in collaboration with Hybris, ASP4all and Amazon Web Services).

In the past, a series of established key performance indicators were used to guarantee performance. To create something that would continue to work well for years to come, something a bit more forward-thinking was in order.

After careful deliberation with the client, Pegasus One decided to deploy a new infrastructure for both hosting and for the security of their full Web environment. At the same time, an AWS-based content delivery network (otherwise known as a CDN) solution was leveraged to enable site optimization.

RESULTS.

At the end of the project, Pegasus One was able to accomplish a number of key objectives on behalf of the client, all of which were identified as critical during our initial discussions. These include things like:

  • Higher site efficiency: Thanks to 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year performance monitoring, the client’s site has never functioned better.
  • Improved conversions: Thanks to the ways in which we were able to create shorter page-loading times, the client was able to implement a number of important features its users had been asking for – like quicker order processing. This had an almost immediate positive impact on conversion rates, among other factors.

But maybe the most important benefit of all is that these changes contributed to an overwhelmingly positive impact on the user experience the client is able to offer to both new and existing customers. People don’t just want to make a purchase online- they want an experience that is legitimately better and more enjoyable than one they could replicate via a brick and mortar store in their own neighbourhood. The client isn’t just in a better position to do that today – we’ve also laid the foundation for further improvements moving forward, too.

VALUE.

All told, Pegasus One (in collaboration with the aforementioned partners) has hosted and managed this particular client’s e-commerce environments since 2015 – and this project was so successful that it’s clear this relationship will continue to serve both parties well for years to come.

Thanks to this new approach to an e-commerce strategy, the client has been able to integrate a number of new features into their site. One of the most important was a new quick ordering process capability, something that was itself made possible by improving page loading times significantly.

Likewise, sites on the primary domain are now proactively monitored around the clock and site optimization functions are capitalized on soon after they are initially identified. All of this has combined into not only a greater number of visitors for the client but a larger number of successful conversions as well. Real-time, value-added functionalities like these guarantee the most seamless online experience possible- thus preserving the client’s competitive advantage for a decade or more.
